    Hint: You\u2019ll get all your steps in.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u00a0It requires you let down your guard a little bit, get into the heartfelt pulse of where you\u2019re going and lose yourself a bit (while still having a clear idea of where you\u2019re going).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Scotland Travel: <\/span><\/b>What made you want to visit?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>

    \u201cI had never traveled internationally before I started working with the company and Scotland had just so happened to be a place I had always dreamed of,\u201d says Guerra. \u201cMeaning – I had already been there twice and I still paid to go a third time. It has the distinction of being one of the few places that I built up in my mind for years and years that not just met but exceeded expectations.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Guerra says that in Scotland, there truly is <\/span>something for everyone<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u201cI think one of the things I love – and there’s a lot of reasons to love Scotland – is that it’s got all these different levels for people to meet it at. It’s got something for everybody.<\/span> \u00a0If you’re a history buff, there’s an embarrassment of riches pretty much any place that you go.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    For example: Edinburgh.<\/span> \u00a0<\/span>\u201cI know that’s the most popular one – and very rightfully so. You’ve got the Old Town\u2019s medieval history and you can just walk over and see the planned city of the New Town. It has that dramatic historic feel… it looks like you’ve stepped into a postcard from the, you know, early 20th century.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    It\u2019s a city where there are no skyscrapers, and walking is a more sensible (if sometimes strenuous) way of getting around. But challenge (and new sneakers) notwithstanding, it may have been getting around that made him fall for Scotland.<\/span><\/p>

    Things to Do in Scotland: Drive. Walk. Eat.<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>

    One of the best ways to learn to love a place, says Guerra, is to walk in it.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Or drive in it.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Or get a little lost. but in a good way. Scotland is excellent for that. Whether you\u2019re taking public transport or meandering your way through town, you\u2019ll get to know your destination in a personal, face-to-face way.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u201cOne of the charms [with travel in Scotland] is how walkable everything is there and how easy you will tend to find it,\u201d says Guerra.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    The first time he traveled to Scotland for work, it was a <\/span>Self-Drive trip.<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/p>

    \u201cDriving was pretty easy. There’s always a little bit of a learning curve like anything else. The cities themselves will be the trickiest just because they’re more congested,\u201d says Guerra. \u201cBut once you get onto the open roads it\u2019s much easier.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    And once you\u2019re out of the car, that\u2019s where the walking part begins. Make sure you\u2019ve got sturdy shoes for the cobblestones and rain \u2013 but be sure they\u2019re already broken in.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u00a0\u201cEverything’s walkable. Even if you have to make a 15-minute walk from one corner to the next, just know you’ll probably be late. Because you’re stopping and looking at everything.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    This is where it pays to get a little lost. Lose yourself in the spot. The moment. The curious little shop. That little cafe you just saw. Each of these, Guerra says, might be the key to unlocking your heart when you travel in Scotland.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Prefer to let the experts be your guide? Not to worry: There\u2019s more than enough <\/span>walking tours<\/span><\/a> to choose from when you book your travels. Some will even take you into the secret tunnels that run under the old streets of Edinburgh.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Also: don\u2019t forget to eat. You won\u2019t be disappointed.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u201cThere’s this stigma of the UK having subpar food – but like the food scene in <\/span>Scotland<\/span><\/a> has just exploded,\u201d says Guerra.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Even ordering an American standard like a cheeseburger will be different in Scotland he says, because the meat and every ingredient came from within ten miles that week.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    For those traveling specifically for foodie experiences, there\u2019s plenty to choose from. Like the Wilson\u2019s Farm and Kitchen <\/span>Field to Fork Tour<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>St. Andrew\u2019s Food Tour<\/span><\/a> and <\/span>more<\/span><\/a> – that\u2019s how you get to taste, flavor and feast on your travels.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u201cEverywhere you go, there’s such a pride and an emphasis on locally sourced foods. People are breathing new life into like traditional Scottish food.\u201d<\/span><\/span>\u00a0

    Scotland travel advice: Don\u2019t forget Glasgow<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>

    Guerra says a lot of people hop and skip over <\/span>Glasgow<\/span><\/a> when they plan their Scotland travel.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u201cI think a lot of people tend to sleep on Glasgow,\u201d says Guerra. \u201cI don’t think any place is gonna beat Edinburgh for just the wow factor. But Glasgow is probably <\/span>the<\/span><\/i> place\u00a0 where I still feel like I’ve never had enough time.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/p>

    What did you love about Glasgow?<\/i>\u00a0<\/strong>
    \u00a0<\/span>The history, the culture, the vibrance. It\u2019s a city with a thriving urban scene that bridges the stoicism of the past with the liveliness of the present.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u201cI would recommend anybody to go there, first to go see the cathedral, but also to walk up to the necropolis and just see the stunning views of the entire city up there.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    In addition to being a history buff, Guerra is also a music lover. And Glasgow is perfect for him in that regard, he found.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u00a0\u201cI’m somebody who’s into music, and every time I go there, you know, there’s punk bands playing and there’s small exhibits,\u201d he says. \u201cThere are all these little museums, all locally funded.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Among the many museums he made a point to stop in and see, when he visited the <\/span>Policeman’s Museum in Glasgow<\/span><\/a>, founded by a former Glasgow policeman who\u2019d served for 25 years.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    \u201cAnd that [museum] was his dream,\u201d says Guerra. \u201cAnd he was there, talking to me for like 2 hours, showing me each thing in his museum.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

    Josh\u2019s Travel Advice for Scotland:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>
    1. Travel in the off-seasons<\/span> : <\/span>Autumn and winter are perfect for skipping the crowds and getting the city and spaces a bit more to yourself.<\/li>
    2. Waterproof Layer: <\/span>It\u2019s going to rain no matter the season and that\u2019s part of the charm. Don\u2019t get caught unprepared,<\/li>
    3. Broken in shoes: <\/span>Nothing ruins the rest of a trip like blisters and hurting feet.<\/li>
    4. Eat\u00a0 like a local: <\/span>Go ahead and spoil yourself if you want to, but don\u2019t\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ol>

      And a final parting note: Don\u2019t ever skip on Glasgow!<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
