Located near Castlerock, Co. Derry the Mussenden Temple is perched on a 120 ft cliff top in the grounds of the Downhill Demesne. Built in 1875, as a summer library for the Bishop of Derry, the temple and its architecture were inspired by the Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, near Rome. The Temple and the surrounding views are among the most photographed scenes in Ireland.
